Danny Welbeck is concerned by the speculation surrounding Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal, admitting that it is “not great to lose your best players”.
The Chilean, who has contributed 29 goals and 15 assists to the Gunners cause this season, continues to be heavily linked with a summer exit at Emirates Stadium.
He is about to enter the final 12 months of his current contract and has suitors around the world keeping a close eye on his situation.
Arsene Wenger has attempted to curb the transfer rumours at regular intervals, and Welbeck is among those hoping that a compromise can be reached to keep a key man in north London.
PSG set to step up Alexis chase
He told the Evening Standard: "It's obvious to see how important he is for the team with his great ability on the pitch and also off it with his attitude.
“It's not great to lose your best players.”
Sanchez’s fine form this season has helped to cover the absence of others, with Welbeck sitting out the first half of the campaign through injury.
He has returned to play a regular role since January, but insists there will be more to come from him in 2017-18 once he is fully clear of the niggling knocks which have been holding him back.
Asked if he considers those issues to be behind him, the England international said: “Yes, definitely.
"I've not done it yet but I'm looking forward to building on the stage I'm in at the moment and obviously in the future I hope I will be playing three games in a week.
“It has been difficult, coming back from injury and getting into the team and out of it. I have just got to make sure I'm integrated well into the team, not just in for a certain amount of games but repetitively one after the other.
“My body has got to adjust to the training load and then playing in the matches so you do get your niggles here and there, it's something you have got to cope with. But I feel like I've been handling it pretty well and have had no major reactions with my knee.
Wenger: Arsenal future still uncertain
"It's just a little niggle here and there with my foot and my big toe. That's the thing that has been putting me out of the team at the moment.
"It's just a bruise on the bottom of my foot so every time I'm running on it, it repeatedly is banging on the bruise.”
Welbeck has netted four times in 19 appearances this season, with there potentially one more outing to come in Saturday’s FA Cup final clash with Chelsea at Wembley.
