Timothy Weah is planning to remain with Paris Saint-Germain this summer, with the United States forward claiming a loan move holds no interest.
The 18-year-old striker is aware that he will likely require a spell away from Parc des Princes at some stage in order to further his development with regular first-team football.
He has, however, made a senior bow for the Ligue 1 champions, while a first goal for USA arrived in a recent friendly clash with Bolivia.
Weah, who is the son of AC Milan legend and former Ballon d’Or winner George, is being tipped for big things and expected to tread a similar career path to that of his illustrious father.
The youngster is, however, grounded enough to know that small steps are required at this stage, telling the42: “It’s an incredible club, an incredible bunch of players, incredible coaching staff, I’m learning so much from playing with them each day at such a young age and I’m maturing in a way that I really wanted to.
“I’m seeing my game really develop for the better. I’m really happy to be at PSG, I want to stay there and learn and hopefully get some playing time.
“I feel like a loan is a little too early. I still want to be with them, get some more minutes and maybe at the end of next season or in the middle of next season, I’ll go out on loan. Who knows? It’s the coach’s choice.
“When I meet the coach [Thomas Tuchel], we’re probably going to have a talk and discuss the future.”
For now, Weah is focused on another international outing, with the United States taking on the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Saturday.
That fixture could earn him a third senior cap, with his debut having been made in a 1-0 victory over Paraguay in March.
He was handed that opportunity shortly after making his bow for PSG in a Ligue 1 meeting with Troyes, with a first start for the French giants made in a final day showdown with Caen.
