Spain vs. Denmark lineups, team news

The recent loss of Rodri and Dani Carvajal will sting Spain as the two have provided high levels of consistency over recent years. Both have serious knee ligament injuries and will be out significant amounts of time. Gavi is on the tail end of his ACL recovery but is not quite ready yet for international duty.

Also missing due to a fitness concern is in-form winger Nico Williams who is absent due to a hip injury, while Ferran Torres has a hamstring issue and Bryan Gil also had to withdraw from the squad. Euro 2024 star Dani Olmo remains out with his muscle injury, and goalkeeper Unai Simon has a wrist injury that will likely sideline him until December.

Spain predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Raya (GK) — Porro, Cubarsi, Laporte, Cucurella — Zubimendi, Ruiz — Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Baena — Morata.

Injured: Rodri, Carvajal, Gavi, N. Williams, Torres, Gil, Olmo, Simon
Suspended:

Injuries on the weekend's club games to Joachim Andersen and Christian Norgaard forced them to withdraw from the squad. Denmark is also missing Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen who is likely out for a number of months with Achilles tendonitis.

Former captain Simon Kjaer retired after Euro 2024, and so did 33-year-old midfielder Thomas Delaney who also called time on his international career after the summer's major tournament.

Denmark predicted XI (3-4-2-1, right to left): Schmeichel (GK) — Kristensen, Vestergaard, Andersen — Bah, Hojbjerg, Norgaard, Kristiansen — Gronbaek, Eriksen — Poulsen.

Injured: Andersen, Norgaard, Christensen
Suspended:
