Manchester City will aim to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League as they host Brentford at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams have enjoyed impressive starts to the season. Manchester City, under the leadership of Pep Guardiola, have secured victories against Chelsea, Ipswich Town, and West Ham United. They have also remained unbeaten at the Etihad Stadium since a surprising 1-2 loss to Brentford in November 2022.

Meanwhile, Brentford has claimed two league wins, defeating Crystal Palace and Southampton. The west London outfit have their sights set on producing a genuine top-half bid this time around but face an uphill battle to get any points from this game.

Man City vs. Brentford lineups, team news

Jack Grealish made his first start of the season at West Ham before the international break and was then on the scoresheet as England beat the Republic of Ireland in Dublin. The 29-year-old is expected to keep his place, even with Savinho set to return from the knee complaint that ruled him out at the London Stadium.

Phil Foden has not featured since the opening weekend of the season due to illness and sat out England's games with Ireland and Finland. Guardiola will hope to have the PFA Player of the Year back in his ranks, while fellow Ballon d'Or nominee Rodri is poised to make his first start of the campaign

Man City predicted XI (3-2-4-1, right to left): Ederson (GK) — Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol — Lewis, Rodri — Savinho, Silva, De Bruyne, Grealish — Haaland.

Injured: Bobb, Foden (doubt)
Suspended: None

This is Brentford's first game since attacking talisman Ivan Toney completed his move to the Saudi Pro League but the England striker did not feature as Frank's men racked up six points from their opening three games.

Haaland is the only player to have scored more than Bryan Mbuemo's three so far this term. Summer signings Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho might have to be content with places on the bench again.

Kristoff Ajer was substituted before halftime in the win over Southampton and missed Norway's UEFA Nations League fixtures with an ankle injury. Mads Roerslev is favourite to come in at right-back.

Brentford predicted XI (4-1-4-1, right to left): Flekken (GK) — Roerslev, Collins, Pinnock, Janelt — Norgaard — Mbuemo, Jensen, Damsgaard, Schade — Wissa

Injured: Ajer, Henry, Thiago, Dasilva, Hickey
Suspended: None

Man City vs. Brentford Prediction

Manchester City is favored to win their upcoming match against Brentford, but the game is expected to be competitive. City's recent form and home advantage give them a significant edge, but Brentford has proven to be a challenging opponent in the past. A narrow victory for City seems likely, but the Bees ability to score goals could make the match a close contest.

  • Prediction: Manchester City 2-1 Brentford
