Nicolas Lodeiro's torrid introduction to MLS continued Sunday with an audacious free kick to give the Seattle Sounders a 1-0 first-half lead against FC Dallas in Frisco, Texas.

The Uruguayan lined up for the set piece opportunity in the 41st minute, and he fired a curling effort that beat a fully stretched Chris Seitz at the near post.

The Sounders are in the thick of the playoff race in the MLS Western Conference, as they headed into Sunday's match with 45 points. Three of the West's six postseason berths had yet to be decided heading into the league's penultimate day of regular season action.

Helping Seattle along is Lodeiro, who now has four goals and eight assists since joining the Sounders as a midseason addition in July. His stunning strike wasn't enough, however, as Dallas stormed back in the second half for a 2-1 victory.
