Two MLS Western Conference strongholds clash for a shot at the 2024 Leagues Cup title as LAFC hosts the Colorado Rapids in the semifinals on Wednesday night.
Both sides sit in the top four of the league standings through 26 matches and have made the most of their month-long break for Leagues Cup action.
LAFC was the only side to advance through the quarterfinals in regulation play, with Colorado one of three teams to progress via a penalty shootout.
The winner of this match will face either defending MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew or the Philadelphia Union in the final. There are no Liga MX sides remaining in the tournament, with Club America and Mazatlan both crashing out in the quarterfinals on penalties.

LAFC vs. Colorado Rapids lineups & team news
LAFC are without Cristian Olivera and Timothy Tillman due to injury, with both expected to return shortly after the conclusion of the Leagues Cup.
Olivier Giroud has only just joined the club and came off the bench in the quarterfinal. He could potentially earn a start to spell one of the regulars on short rest, but with the LAFC attack clicking as it currently stands, he is likely just a bench replacement until he works his way into the rotation.
LAFC projected starting lineup (3-4-3): Lloris (GK) — Murillo, Chanot, Long — Palencia, I. Sanchez, Atuesta, Hollingshead — Bogusz, Kamara, Bouanga.
When goalkeeper Zack Steffen joined the Colorado Rapids, then-USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter challenged the former national team starter to earn his way back into the fold. Last match was a great moment in that quest, keeping a clean sheet against one of the most potent attacking sides in Liga MX.
Other USMNT talent on the Rapids include Djordje Milahilovic, who has been exceptional for Colorado since returning to MLS this past winter, as well as Sam Vines, and Cole Bassett.
Colorado Rapids projected starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Steffen (GK) — Rosenberry, Abubakar, Maxso, Vines — Bassett, Ronan — O. Fernandez, Mihailovic, Lewis — Navarro.
LAFC vs. Colorado Rapids prediction, betting odds & lines
- Score prediction: LAFC 2-1 Colorado Rapids
The Colorado Rapids did extremely well to hold Liga MX giants Club America off the scoresheet in the quarterfinals, but it wasn't exactly a sustainable performance indicating a longer-term defensive solidity. Instead, Club America fell short despite 20 shots, putting just four on target.
Meanwhile, LAFC blitzed a strong Seattle Sounders back line for three goals on the road in their quarterfinal, and should be well-positioned to top whatever the Rapids put together offensively.
