Two of the best and most popular west coast clubs in North America clash in the Leagues Cup group stage as Chivas Guadalajara travel north to Los Angeles to take on the LA Galaxy on Sunday.
The Galaxy sit atop the Western Conference in the MLS league standings, and won their Leagues Cup opener against the San Jose Earthquakes to put themselves in a strong qualifying position.
Guadalajara, meanwhile, drew with the Quakes and lost on penalties, meaning they must secure at least a point here to qualify for the knockouts on goal difference, while a win would see them top the three-team group standings.

Head coach Greg Vanney selected 22-year-old Novak Micovic in goal for the opener against the San Jose Earthquakes, indicating he may be set to utilize a cup goalkeeper to give regular starter John McCarthy some extra rest, although he could be tempted to bring McCarthy back with a knockout stage spot on the line.

American international Cade Cowell has exploded to life in the new Liga MX season, scoring three goals and assisting another in four matches through the Apertura, but was held off the scoresheet in the Leagues Cup opener against San Jose.

LA Galaxy vs. Guadalajara prediction, betting odds & lines
- Score prediction: LA Galaxy 2-1 Guadalajara
Both teams have been in exceptional form, but the Galaxy are playing at home, which has made a world of difference through the first two years of full-fledged Leagues Cup play. Liga MX clubs have struggled mightily in this competition which is largely stacked against them, even the biggest and most in-form clubs.
The Galaxy have scored eight goals in their last three games, and are poised to usher Guadalajara out, although a draw would be unsurprising as well given it would see both clubs advance.
