Is Kylian Mbappe playing vs. Luxembourg?

This is the question on the minds of France fans and neutrals alike ahead of the game. The build up to France's Euro 2024 camp has been dominated by Mbappe's prolonged free transfer move to Real Madrid.

Mbappe's time in the Spanish capital, and the formalities of signing his new contract with Los Blancos have been worked into his schedule, with a minimal amount of time spent away from the French camp.

Deschamps is not expected to remove him from his matchday squad, but he could start on the bench, to allow for a break as some of France's fringe players stake their claims.

France vs. Luxembourg lineups, team news

Aurelien Tchouameni remains sidelined after missing the final weeks of Real Madrid's season with a foot injury. Arsenal defender William Saliba could be given a chance to push his case as a starting centre-back at Euro 2024 but Ferland Mendy and Eduardo Camavainga are absent due to an extended break after their Champions League final win.

France predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Maignan (GK) — Kounde, Sailba, Upamecano, Hernandez — Rabiot, Zaire-Emery — Dembele, Griezmann, Thuram — Giroud.

Luxembourg enjoyed the best-ever qualification campaign ahead of Euro 2024 as the tiny nation picked up 17 points in Group F. Their UEFA Nations League form sealed a playoff spot but they lost out to Georgia in March.

Luxembourg predicted XI (4-5-1 right to left): Moris (GK) — Jans, Mahmutovic, Chanot, Carlson — Bohnert, Martins, Thill, Olesen, Mustafić — Rodrigues.

France vs. Luxembourg prediction

Luxembourg have made steady improvements in the last decade and they are no longer an also-rans in European football. However, up against the might of France, the focus will be on the visitors to keep the score down.

Their most recent clash with Deschamps' team famously saw a 0-0 World Cup qualifying draw in 2028.

Prediction: France 2-0 Luxembourg
