Everton will look to mark the beginning of their EFL Cup campaign with a victory when they host Southampton in the third round.

The Toffees, who sit rock-bottom with zero points after four games in the Premier League, let go of a two-goal lead for the second consecutive league match as they lost 3-2 to Aston Villa over the weekend.

Southampton also had a bad outing as they were soundly defeated 3-0 by Manchester United at home in Premier League action in their previous fixture.

Everton vs. Southampton Prediction

Both teams have had a horrible start to their Premier League campaigns and are yet to register a win this season.

Southampton have shown promise in their outings so far despite losing all of their games, while everything seems to be going wrong for Everton. As for this game, the Saints may barely edge out the Toffees to progress to the next round, a result that would pile even more pressure on Toffees' boss Sean Dyche.
