With a win in their season debut last weekend, Canada international Alphonso Davies and Bayern Munich head back to Allianz Arena for their Bundesliga home opener, set to take on Freiburg on Sunday.
In his first match for new manager Vincent Kompany, Davies' side required a late comeback as they trailed Wolfsburg 2-1 on the hour mark but came back to win 3-2 on an 82nd minute winner by Serge Gnabry. Harry Kane netted in three different preseason friendlies, but came up empty in the Bundesliga opener.
The new boss knows that mistakes need to be eliminated if they are to reclaim their Bundesliga throne from last season's darlings Bayer Leverkusen, saying they "lost momentum just after half-time" and that "such lapses often occur due to mistakes."
Freiburg were in a similar position in their opening match of the season as well, trailing Stuttgart just two minutes in but coming back to win 3-1 on a brace by Lukas Kubler.

Bayern Munich vs. Freiburg lineups & team news
Bayern Munich have a number of injuries to contend to, but most of them are to squad players. Leroy Sane is the only key player to be down, nursing a groin injury for another few weeks. Josip Stanisic is out until early October with a knee injury, and recent signing Hiroki Ito is out with a broken bone in his foot.
There's a battle for places in midfield, as Aleksandar Pavlovic and Josh Kimmich started in the pivot, but new signing Joao Palhinha could be brought in, while Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer are also waiting for a chance.
Bayern Munich projected starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Neuer (GK) — Boey, Kim, Upamecano, Davies — Kimmich, Palhinha — Olise, Musiala, Gnabry — Kane.
Freiberg have a laundry list of injuries to contend with early in the season. Most notably, young goalkeeper Noah Atubolu is out for a few weeks after needing an appendectomy.
They're also missing playmaker Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, winger Eren Dinkci, and striker Michael Gregoritsch, leaving them down a number of senior players.
Freiburg projected starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Muller (GK) — Kubler, Rosenfelder, Lienhart, Gunter — Eggestein, Osterhage — Doan, Rohl, Grifo — Adamu.
Bayern Munich vs. Freiburg prediction, betting odds & lines
- Score prediction: Bayern Munich 3-1 Freiburg
Vincent Kompany may not like it, but Bayern Munich have a lot of work to do defensively if they are to not only challenge for the Bundesliga title but push for European glory as well. Still, at least for now, it often goes unnoticed as their insane attacking lineup sees them able to outscore opponents to patch over the defensive issues for now. If Joao Palhinha steps into midfield for his first Bayern start, that will help shore up transitional issues.
