England are world champions once again, with their U20 side lifting the World Cup in South Korea.

Paul Simpson’s team edged out Venezuela in a keenly contested final to get their hands on the prize.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted the only goal of the game 10 minutes before half-time, with that effort enough to secure a first FIFA trophy since 1966.

He was aided by the efforts of goalkeeper Freddie Woodman in the second-half, as he saved a late penalty, but one composed finish proved to be enough.

Calvert-Lewin held his nerve after seeing his initial effort kept out to calmly roll the loose ball home.

The experience as a whole – not just his exploits in the final – should serve the 20-year-old well as he prepares to return to Everton and seek more Premier League minutes in 2017-18.
