The US Women's National Team didn't miss a beat on Sunday in its second game of the group stage of the 2019 Women's World Cup as it cruised past Chile 3-0 led by Carli Lloyd's two goals.
Right off the bat, it was a different starting XI for the USWNT as coach Jill Ellis made seven changes to the lineup, including opting to not start Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe.
Things got going for the US in the 11th minute when Abby Dahlkemper sent one into the box for Christen Press. Her pass was off the mark and a Chilean defender attempted to clear it, but it didn't go far. Lloyd pounced at the opportunity and sent one past Chilean goalkeeper Christiane Endler to give the US the early 1-0 lead.
With the goal, Lloyd became the first player in history to score in six straight World Cup matches. Lloyd has scored eight goals over those six matches.
Julie Ertz made it 2-0 in the 26th minute on a header off a corner kick from Tierna Davidson. Lloyd picked up her second goal nine minutes later in the 35th minute. Davidson sent another terrific ball into the box off a corner and Lloyd was able to head it home and make it 3-0.

With the win, the USWNT clinched a spot in the knockout round and moved back into first place in Group F by virtue of its +16 goal differential. A date with Sweden on Thursday is up next with the US needing either a win or draw to finish atop Group F.
