Emma Hayes leads the U.S. Women's National Team into a new era, starting on Saturday just outside of Denver.

The USWNT is set to host South Korea on Saturday, June 1 at Dick's Sporting Good's Park in Commerce City, Colo. It's the first official game in charge for Hayes since she agreed to become the new full time USWNT head coach in November 2023.

Hayes will have plenty of veterans to work with, including Alex Morgan, Rose Lavelle, Lindsey Horan, and Crystal Dunn, all of whom are World Cup winners. At the same time, there's new blood entering the USWNT program, led by the likes of Jaedyn Shaw, Trinity Rodman, and Korbin Albert.

There's also three uncapped players, including 16-year-old Ajax midfielder Lily Yohannes, who is one to watch for the future — both for the United States and potentially for the Netherlands, if she qualifies to play for the national team.

USA vs. South Korea lineups & team news

With Alyssa Naeher out, Murphy slots in as the starting goalkeeper. Another interesting note is Crystal Dunn is listed as a forward — will we see her in the front three after playing so long at this level as a right-back? Jaedyn Shaw is also working back from injury like Alex Morgan. Will they be ready for the first game of this series or be brought along slowly? It could create a spot for Trinity Rodman and Catarina Macario

USA starting lineup (4-3-3): Murphy (GK) — Fox, Girma, Davidson, Dunn — Lavelle, Horan, Coffey — Rodman, Macario, Smith.

USA subs: Lineups are announced 1 hour before kickoff.

South Korea missed out on qualifying for the Olympics so they'll be using these friendlies as preparation for the next World Cup in 2027. One interesting note, South Korea called up 17-year-old Korean-American Casey Phair, who made her debut for the Taegeuk Ladies at the 2023 World Cup in Australia.

South Korea starting lineup (3-4-3): Kim (GK) — Kim, Lee, Choo — Ji, Cho, Li, Kang — Cho, Chun, Phair.

South Korea subs: Lineups are announced 1 hour before kickoff.

USA vs. South Korea prediction

  • Score prediction: USA 2-0 South Korea

With so many players battling it out for a place on the 18-player roster, the U.S. should be motivated enough to produce some big performances against South Korea.

Both the talent disparity and the American striker pool should give the U.S. the advantage.
