Iran handed the U.S. a major boost when they knocked off Wales on Friday, 2-0. That puts the Stars and Stripes in prime position to advance — as long as they take advantage against Iran on Tuesday.

It has been something of a mixed bag to the start of the World Cup for the U.S., the first time the team is in the big dance in eight years. A 1-1 draw with Wales started promising, but drastically shifted after the half, with Gareth Bale nailing an 80th-minute penalty kick for the equalizer.

Destiny rests in the United States' hands with an opportunity to advance to the knockout stage once again. Here's when to watch the critical U.S. vs. Iran fixture:

When is USA vs. Iran?

  • Date: Tuesday, Nov. 29
  • Time: 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT)

The United States is set to face off against Iran on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. ET. This will be the final match of the group stage for the U.S., which has faced off against Wales and England.

Iran, meanwhile, followed a 6-2 trouncing by England in their opener by bouncing back to defeat Wales in their second group-stage game. 

What channel is USA vs. Iran on? 

  • TV Channel: Fox (English), Telemundo (Spanish)

Fox and FS1 are the English-language broadcast home to all World Cup games, from the start of the tournament to the end of the tournament in mid-December.

Telemundo plays home to the Spanish-language broadcast throughout the tournament.

How to watch the World Cup in the United States

The 2022 World Cup will be broadcast in the United States in English by Fox, with programming split between their main Fox network channel and their cable channel, FS1. The network will make all games available to stream on the Fox Sports app.

Fox boasts play-by-play commentators John Strong and Ian Darke, who will lead the network's match broadcast coverage. Fox will also have studio coverage throughout the tournament on their show "World Cup Tonight," as Kate Abdo hosts alongside two analysts, former USMNT midfielder Maurice Edu and former NFL player Chad Johnson.

In the United States, games will also be available in Spanish on Telemundo, with select group-stage matches broadcast on Universo when there are kickoff conflicts.

Andres Cantor will serve as lead play-by-play broadcaster, set to cover his 12th World Cup. The studio programming will be anchored by Miguel Gurwitz, Ana Jurka, Carlos Hermosillo, and Carlota Vizmanos, who reprise their roles from the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2019 Women's World Cup in France.
