The Three Lions. The Stars and Stripes. The World Cup. Does it get any better than this?

LIVE: Follow updates from USA vs England World Cup Group B match

The USA and England will renew a historic rivalry when they take to the pitch Friday at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The stakes are incredibly high, and the result will go a long way toward determining who will advance from Group B into the knockout stage.

Amazingly, the USA holds the edge over England in their two previous World Cup meetings. The first came all the way back in 1950, when the Americans shocked the world with a 1-0 upset win. Then, the two teams fought to a 1-1 draw in 2010, with the USA's goal coming courtesy of an infamous blunder by England goalkeeper Rob Green.

DeCOURCY: Are England way ahead of the USA? Friday could change perceptions

England's immensely talented squad will be looking to finally get one over on the "Yanks" this time around. The team is fresh off a 6-2 thrashing of Iran in its opening match. On the other side, the Americans conceded a late equalizer and had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Wales despite taking the lead in the first half.

"They’re going to be coming for us full throttle," England manager Gareth Southgate said of the young American team.

If the USA can match the energy it showed in the first half against Wales, anything is possible. Even hanging on for a draw would be a tremendous result — and could go a long way to securing a place in the knockout stage.

Here’s everything you need to know to watch the match in the United States on TV or online via live stream.
