The semifinals of the UEFA Women's Champions League are set to begin with a pair of mouthwatering matchups for fans to enjoy.
First, a loaded Barcelona Femini squad that features stars Alexia Putellas and Jennifer Hermoso is matched up against a historically great Wolfsburg Women's side that includes multiple German internationals such as Sara Doorsoun, Tabea Wassmuth, and captain Alexandra Popp.
Barcelona romped in the first leg behind a brace from Putellas, in great position to make the finals. The white-hot Putellas had carried the team to the semifinals as well, with three goals across the two-leg quarterfinal victory over Real Madrid.
Alongside that matchup, a star-studded Lyon Feminin squad clashes with bitter French rivals PSG Feminine. Multiple French international stars line up on both sides of the pitch in that match, including Wendie Renard, Amadine Henry, Kadidiatou Diani, and Grace Geyoro. U.S. internationals Catarina Macario and Lindsey Horan will also take the field, both for Lyon.
Macario was the hero for Lyon in the first leg, bagging a brace sandwiching halftime to lead her side to a 3-2 victory and securing goals in four straight Women's Champions League matches. Wendie Renard also hit from the penalty spot, while Ada Hegerberg was held off the scoresheet but picked up an assist.
Macario and Hegerberg both scored key goals in the two quarterfinal wins over Juventus to lead Lyon into the last four in comeback fashion, while Swiss international Ramona Bachmann's 112th minute goal in the second leg gave PSG the thrilling victory over Bayern Munich in the previous round.
