Tyler Adams just cannot catch a break.
The U.S. international had already missed the final four months of the 2022/23 Premier League season due to a hamstring injury suffered in mid-March, forced to watch from the sidelines while his club Leeds were relegated in his absence.
Having completed a move Bournemouth in the summer and hoping for a fresh start, Adams finally made his Cherries debut in late September in the EFL Cup, ready to get back into action for club and country.
His return lasted 20 minutes.
Set for another long spell on the sidelines, Adams has been forced to swallow another cruel twist of injury fate which, if all goes according to plan, will have seen him essentially out of action for an entire year.

Tyler Adams injury news, updates after setback
After missing a full six months due to hamstring surgery, Tyler Adams finally returned to play 20 minutes against Stoke City in the EFL Cup on Sept. 27, making his long-awaited Bournemouth debut, but that was all he would muster.
Adams suffered a setback in training in the days following the match, and is right back where he started in March.
According to a report by Paul Tenorio of The Athletic, Adams has required additional hamstring surgery and is set for another five months on the sidelines, hoping to be back in February or March.
When will Tyler Adams be back from hamstring injury?
Tyler Adams has proven an essential figure for both club and country, both with his play on the field and the performances of the teams in his absence.
While rummaging through the laundry list of reasons why Leeds United were relegated last season, Adams' absence could be considered amongst the highest considerations as they were picked apart through the middle on multiple occasions.
Bournemouth, battling relegation themselves, will now have to press on without one of their key offseason signings.
Additionally, the United States have struggled to replace their essential No. 6, with Yunus Musah and Johnny Cardoso proving adequate but not entirely at the same level.

Adams has reportedly gone back under the knife for a second hamstring repair in early October, with the recovery timeline set for five months. That would see Adams return sometime in mid- to late-February, with some additional time potentially needed to get Adams back to full match fitness after nearly a year out of competitive action.
Thankfully, that will still give the 24-year-old time to recover for a chance at making the U.S. national team roster for the Copa America on home soil next year, but after so long out of action, he may need to re-establish himself as part of the squad and prove he can be relied on from a fitness standpoint.
