The Malaysian FA (FAM) on Wednesday announced the withdrawal of two teams from the rest of the 2018 Youth Cup.

According to the announcement, SSMP-AMD Cougars U-16 and SSMP-AMD Panthers U-16, who compete in the under 19 competition and are managed by the country's youth development programme the National Football Development Programme (NFDP), are going to concentrate on their preparations for the 2018 AFC U-16 Championship finals, which will be hosted by Malaysia this coming September.

FAM have decided to cancel the remaining matches involving the two teams, while the results and goals of the matches that they have played have been nullified.

Before the two teams were withdrawn from the Youth Cup, the Cougars were in third place in Group A, while the Panthers were in ninth in Group B.

However, two more NFDP teams; SSBJ U-16 and SSTMI U-17 will continue playing in the tournament.
