Roma defender Ashley Cole has put an end to suggestions he is considering leaving the club, insisting he is enjoying life in Italy.
The former England international only moved to the Stadio Olimpico this summer from Chelsea, but reports have emerged to suggest he is unhappy at the Serie A giants and could leave as early as January.
Cole, however, has stressed that is not the case.
"I love to play in Italy and I love Italy, the players are technically different because we play with pace and our coach [Rudi Garcia] is very good,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
“He encourages us to play well and I like that a lot. I like the Premier League but also where I am.
“The decision to leave [Chelsea] was not wrong. Those eight years for me were important, but now I am a Roma player.
“I could player better than I am currently, of course, if I get the chance to play more games."
Cole admitted he would love the chance to line up against former Blues teammate Frank Lampard when Roma takes on Manchester City on Wednesday.
“It will be nice to see [Joe] Hart and Lampard. I didn't expect to play against him and it will be nice if we are both in the starting lineup," he said.
“Am I surprised Lampard is at City? Not really. We all know that City are a great team and when he scored against Chelsea he was doing his job.
“In Europe, everyone knows how big City are. They are champions and have great players like [Yaya] Toure, [Sergio] Aguero and now Lampard, who are known throughout the world. We’ll see how it goes.
“If we win of course it will be much more difficult for City to progress from the group stages.”
