“I’ve always lived in the same way and in each team I’ve been in I’ve done well and won titles,” the 34-year-old Brazilian said at a news conference in Mexico City. “I hope to keep living in the same way and win a lot of titles (with Queretaro).”
Ronaldinho rejected the notion that he didn’t have a lot of offers after leaving Atletico Mineiro in July, instead indicating that his desire was to be in Mexico and was convinced by Queretaro’s future plans.
“I’ve had options from teams all over the world, but (Queretaro) won me over,” said the 2002 World Cup winner. “I wanted to live here and that’s why I’m here to continue my story.”
The former Barcelona player said he knows a lot about the Mexican league, pointing out that his brother and friends of his played in the country and adding that Rafa Marquez had always spoken highly of life in Mexico when the duo were teammates in Spain.
“I’ll find a league that is very strong and that has everything (it needs) to grow,” stated Ronaldinho.
The former Brazilian national team player will be presented to the crowd in the Estadio Corregidora this evening at halftime of the game between Queretaro and Puebla, but he won’t play.
Ronaldinho said he is physically fit to play and his debut could come either against Tigres on Wednesday in the Copa MX, or in Guadalajara a week on Sunday against Chivas.
His last competitive game was on July 23, when he played 65 minutes in Atletico Mineiro’s Recopa Sudamericana win over Lanus.
