The attacker is unlikely to move from the team on loan, the Bayern boss said on a conference call Tuesday.
"I think today he's going to stay, we're going see in the preseason, but I know him," Guardiola said. "He's always training well, he's a good guy and my first idea, he's going to stay for the rest of the season."
Green has a slight knee injury, the manager said, but will still be on the preseason U.S. tour which sees the Bundesliga champion face Chivas de Guadalajara on July 31 and the MLS All-Stars on Aug. 6.
"He's going to travel in the U.S. and I hope he's going to be fit and be able to play for us," he said.
Green was a controversial inclusion on the United States' World Cup roster but proved many doubters wrong when he scored a stunning goal in extra time against Belgium as the Americans attempted to rally in the round of 16 defeat.
"I spoke many times throughout the year with the U.S. national coach, my dear friend Jurgen Klinsmann, and we spoke about his skills," Guardiola said. "He played a little bit in the World Cup but when he played he showed his level, scoring a beautiful, beautiful goal."
