Radja Nainggolan has hailed Roma team-mate Francesco Totti as football’s equivalent of Roger Federer, with both men continuing to defy their age.
Swiss tennis star Federer is enjoying something of a renaissance at 35, while Totti is still going strong in the Italian capital at 40.
'Nainggolan will have to leave Roma'
Nainggolan considers both to be iconic figures in their chosen field, with their longevity testament to their dedication and natural ability.
He told Supertennis: "Federer is exceptional.
"But we have Totti who still plays at 40 and for Roma, he's just as valuable as Federer.”
Federer claimed the first Grand Slam title of 2017 at the Australian Open and has since gone on to taste success at the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Open.
Totti, meanwhile, made his 21st appearance of the season for Roma on Saturday by stepping off the bench in a 2-0 victory over Empoli.
Totti undecided on Roma future
While Nainggolan continues to marvel at the exploits of his club captain, the Belgium international admits that he considers the best players in the world right now to be plying their trade in La Liga and the Premier League.
He added: "My four favorite players in general are, however, [Lionel] Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and [Eden] Hazard."
Nainggolan passed up the chance to play alongside Hazard for club and country recently, having been approached by the Blues last season, but he says he is reluctant to move to England.
