Teams around the world are busy releasing their new kits ahead of the 2017-18 campaign, but sometimes the designers get it so wrong it becomes laughable.

Goal takes a look back at some of the worst kits of years gone by. (WARNING: Some readers may find these images distressing!)

Inside the managerial mind of Klopp

LIVERPOOL THIRD KIT | 2013-14

Daniel Sturridge Liverpool

Third kits tend to be a bit wackier due to them barely seeing the light of day once the season kicks off, but this bizarre effort from Liverpool was perhaps taking it too far...

BARCELONA AWAY KIT | 1995-97

PSG - Barcelona 1995 - David Ginola vs Sergi

For two seasons the Blaugrana were forced to adorn this green montrosity - greats like Ronaldo deserved better!

CHELSEA AWAY KIT | 1996-97

Dan Petrescu Chelsea

Quite who at Umbro green-lighted this disaster is beyond us. Why go for one shade of blue alongside some yellow when you can have three?!

ENGLAND AWAY KIT | 1996

England kit

After performing so well in white for much of Euro 96, the Three Lions probably deserved to be knocked out in the semi-finals after lining up in a colour that only be described as "greeny-grey"!

CHELSEA AWAY KIT | 1994-96

Chelsea kit

Chelsea again, and this time an efffort that tried convince fans that grey and orange were a match made in heaven that failed miserably.

ATHLETIC CLUB EUROPEAN SHIRT | 2004-05

Athletic Bilbao kit

Designed to celebrate the local Guggenheim Museum, the Spanish side soon became a laughing stock...

CULTURAL LEONESA | 2014-15

Cultural Leonesa kit

Designed to celebrate the club's 90th anniversary, the tuxedo shirt only saw the light of day in a pre-season friendly before being quickly ditched.

CD PALENCIA PLAY-OFF KIT | 2015-16

Palencia Kit

The Spanish third-tier side celebrated reaching the play-offs by releasing an anatomical design in a bid to gain more publicity. They succeeded, if only for the wrong reasons...

CAMEROON AFCON KIT | 2004

Cameroon kit

Not many kits are banned by FIFA, but this effort by Cameroon in the 2004 African Cup of Nations certainly breaks the mould.

Having experimented with sleeveless shirts two years previously, Samuel Eto'o and Co. this time went for an all-in-one outfit that Sepp Blatter suggested went against the laws of the game!

MANCHESTER UNITED AWAY KIT | 1995-96

Manchester United kit

When a team decides to change their kit at half-time because it is affecting their performance, then you know it's bad!

That's exactly what happened with United away at Southampton when they found themselves 3-0 down at half-time, with the players complaining of being unable to see one another in their new grey strip.

Bet on next season's Champions League winners

Cue them returning for the second half in blue, and though they pulled a goal back, they were unable to avoid defeat. Needless to say it was never seen again.

United have, however, this season released a new grey third kit, though the club have been very specific in ensuring it is advertised as "silver". Not so sure you can fool us that easily!
