Goalkeeper Tim Howard might return to Major League Soccer this summer.
Howard, 35, has been a member of the U.S. national team since 2002. He played with the New York/New Jersey MetroStars (now known as the New York Red Bulls) of the MLS from 1998 through 2003 before going to the English Premier League to join Manchester United. Howard has played for Everton the past nine years.
Even though Howard will reportedly make his move soon, he recently signed a contract extension with Everton. If Howard leaves Everton, the team will collect a transfer fee since he has three years left on his contract.
Currently, the only MLS teams with open slots are the New York City FC and Sporting Kansas City, and both are reportedly interested in Howard if he does return to the U.S.
Meanwhile, Everton is looking to Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero as Howard's replacement, according to the Daily Star of London.
