Melbourne City duo Bruce Kamau and Ruon Tongyik are set for a stunning switch to Western Sydney Wanderers for the start of 2018-2019 A-League campaign.
The Covert Agent can reveal the pair are in discussions with the Wanderers and a deal is close to being completed that would see them reunite next season with Josep Gombau, who coached both at Adelaide United.
Gombau is believed to be keen to sign his former proteges as he attempts to rebuild the Western Sydney squad with players that suit his coaching style.
It is understood Kamau and Tongyik, who are close friends, have split from agent Buddy Farah and started negotiations with the Wanderers under new management.
Kamau starred for City in the first two matches of the A-League season - scoring three goals - but after returning from Australian under 23 duty last week, the 22-year-old winger started on the bench behind both Dario Vidosic and Daniel Arzani for the club's match against Newcastle Jets.
Central defender Tongyik joined City in 2016 - the same year as Kamau - and after impressing last season in his 15 appearances for the club, he has yet to play a single minute under Warren Joyce despite making the match day squad on eight occasions.
Melbourne City travel to Suncorp Stadium on Sunday to take on a Brisbane Roar side full of confidence after a victory at Central Coast last weekend.
