A Women's World Cup match of enormous importance takes the stage in Hamilton, New Zealand as Switzerland and Norway meet in Group A play.
Following New Zealand's early victory over Norway in the tournament curtain-raiser, these two teams both know that they are playing catchup, and it could mean the knockout stage will have only room for one of these two sides. Given that, any missteps could prove devastating to either side's tournament survival.
Unlike Norway, Switzerland managed to pick up three points in their opener. Yet a 2-0 victory over the Philippines did little to inspire confidence in a game against the 46th-ranked team in the world.
With each side looking to improve, but also not open themselves up to mortal wounds, there's a tense feeling about this match between two European nations of high standing in the women's football universe.

Switzerland vs Norway prediction, odds
- Moneyline lean: Draw (+230)
- Handicap lean: Switzerland +0.5 (-145)
- Score prediction: Switzerland 1-1 Norway
There's talented players on both sides of these teams, and very little to separate the sides — so don't.
Defeat would doom either team to a disadvantageous position on the final day of group action, so with that in mind, it would be surprising to see either team empty the hopper in this match. A point would do both sides just fine, and leave it all to play for on the final day.

Switzerland vs Norway best bet
- Pick: Under 2.5 goals
- Odds: -145 (BetMGM)
As stated above, it's tough to see either team approaching this match with a guns blazing mentality. Both nations would be satisfied with a point if it came to that.
Meanwhile, both teams struggled offensively in their openers. Switzerland only managed two goals on the Philippines despite ripping 17 shots, and they've only managed to score more than two goals twice since the start of 2022 — a 15-0 win over European minnows Malta, and a 3-3 draw with high-flying Zambia in their World Cup warmup.
Norway put three by Sweden and two past Spain in April, but prior to that they were extremely spotty, being shut out by Denmark and France, while managing just one each against Belgium and Uruguay in matches across the last calendar year.
On the biggest stage, where these teams have every reason not to lose and fewer reasons to go for the win, a low-scoring affair seems appropriate here.
