Steven Gerrard won't put on a Los Angeles Galaxy uniform until later this month, but he already has the club's most ardent fans on his side.

The Liverpool legend bought several cases of beer for each of the Galaxy's three official supporters' groups ahead of Saturday night's 4-0 win over Toronto FC, writing in an accompanying note that he wanted to provide "some refreshments for the 4th of July."

Gerrard was introduced to the crowd at the StubHub Center during the game and will begin training with the Galaxy on Tuesday. He is expected to make his MLS debut July 17 against San Jose.

The 35-year-old midfielder made the jump to MLS after 17 seasons with Liverpool in the Premier League. He also made 114 appearances for England's national team before retiring from international duty after last summer's World Cup.

The level of competition in America won't be quite what Gerrard is accustomed to, but part of the reason MLS and the Galaxy want him is for marketing and public relations. He's off to a good start on that front.
