Stephen Odey opened his FC Zurich goal account in their 2-1 loss to Luzern at the Letzigrund in Sunday’s Swiss Super League encounter.

Making his second league start since moving from Nigeria Professional Football League outfit, MFM FC, the 19-year-old drew the hosts level in the 24th minute after Christian Schneuwly’s early opener for the Luminaries.

Uli Forte’s side were coming into the tie at the back of a three-game winning run but any hope of extending it was snapped after Stefan Knezevic’s 37th-minute goal sealed an unlikely win for Luzern - becoming only the second team to leave the 26,104 capacity stadium with maximum points.

Odey now has 166 minutes of top-flight action under his belt this season for his third-placed side, with a goal to show forth.

The Super Eagles striker will be hoping his performance earns him another starting berth when Zurich travel to take on Lausanne Sport on October 17.
