Sporting Kansas City announced that it has re-signed midfielder Benny Feilhaber to a new two-year contract that runs through 2018.
Feilhaber, 31, has been with Sporting KC for four seasons and has led the club to the postseason in each of those campaigns, including a MLS Cup win in 2013. The midfielder has 28 goals and 50 assists in 145 appearances in all competitions with Sporting KC.

“My family and I are very happy to be staying in Kansas City,” Feilhaber said in a club release. “I have always loved playing in front of our fans and for this city. It’s very exciting to be able to stay here for another two years to help this club win more trophies.”
Feilhaber enjoyed his most successful season with the club in 2015, when he scored 12 goals and added 20 assists in all competitions, and was named an MLS MVP finalist. His 2016 season was also impressive, as he tallied seven goals and a team-high 13 assists.
“It’s been our intention all along to do everything we can to re-sign Benny,” manager Peter Vermes said. “We appreciate the professionalism that he and his agent have shown throughout the process and are very excited that he is coming back to our club.
