That's all from us tonight, we hope you enjoyed the game!

Russia's spot in the knockout stages can be secured tomorrow if Uruguay avoid defeat against Saudi Arabia, a result that would also seal a premature exit for Egypt. Hector Cuper's side will have a final change to end a long wait for a World Cup victory next Monday against Saudi, while Russia will tackle Uruguay in what is likely to be a head-to-head tussle for top spot in Group A.

Salah - Egypt

Another fantastic victory for Russia who, with six points and eight goals, will surely be amongst the final 16 teams in the next round. Ahmed Fathy's unfortunate own goal put the hosts on their way, with Denis Cheryshev and Artem Dzyuba capping the win off before Mohamed Salah netted a consolation from the penalty spot.

FULL-TIME: RUSSIA 3-1 EGYPT

90+3 mins: Egypt still fighting right until the end but their World Cup looks set to end in heartbreak. They'll have one final chance to end a long wait for a World Cup victory against Iran but they will surely be on an early flight back to Cairo.

90+1 mins: We're now into four minutes of added time in St. Petersburg.

90 mins: Russia now just moments away from a win that will surely seal their place in the knockout stages, something that not many expected before the tournament.

88 mins: Egypt remain on the front foot as we enter the later stages and Salah nicks the ball off Kuzyaev on the edge of the area but his effort flies well wide of the target.

86 mins: Now it's time for Russia to make their last substitution, introducing Kudryashov to replace Zhirkov.

84 mins: Smolov has his name taken by the referee, committing a foul to prevent an Egypt counter attack.

82 mins: Egypt make their change of the game, taking Mohsen off for Kahraba.

81 mins: Smolov leads the counter for Russia before playing across the box to Golovin, who is too hesitant on the ball and wastes the opportunity to have a shot on goal.

79 mins: Second change of the game for Russia, as Dzyuba makes way for the introduction of Smolov.

78 mins: Another penalty shout for Egypt! Mohsen falls to the ground under pressure from Kutepov but the referee waves away the protests.

Mohamed Salah Egypt Russia World Cup 2018

77 mins: Russia still look capable of adding more goals before the final whistle, although Egypt may now fancy their chances of clawing their way back into the game.

75 mins: Russia immediately threaten down the other end, where Ignashevich sees a header comfortably collected by El-Shenawy.

74 mins: First change for Russia, as Cheryshev is replaced by Zenit's Kuzyaev.

73 mins: GOAL! 3-1! Salah makes no mistake with his finish, firing past Akinfeev from the spot. The Liverpool star gets his World Cup goal! Can they mount an unlikely comeback?

73 mins: PENALTY! It's confirmed and Egypt will have their chance to pull a goal back. No surprises as to who is stepping up to take it.

72 mins: Salah tumbles inside the box but the referee has issued a free-kick outside the area. It's time for VAR!

70 mins: Egypt are starting to find more room in Russia's half but the damage has already been done. Akinfeev is still yet to truly be tested.

68 mins: Second change for Egypt, as Sobhi replaces Trezeguet.

67 mins: WIDE! Almost a moment to savour for Trezeguet, who takes the ball from Salah on the edge of the area but drills an effort wide of the post.

65 mins: Russia have now scored more goals in this World Cup (8) than they had in their previous two World Cup tournaments combined (6).

64 mins: Egypt need a response and they turn to the bench. Warda, the man Salah replaced in the starting line-up, replaces Elneny.

62 mins: GOAL! It's 3-0! Russia have turned on the style and Dzyuba gets his second goal of the tournament! The striker excellently takes a ball from Kutepov down inside the area, cutting past Gabr and giving El-Shenawy no chance with his finish. Russia are flying once again.

Russia World Cup 2018

61 mins: Cheryshev is standing out as Russia's hero so far this tournament and his goal means he's now level at the top of the scoring charts with Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays tomorrow.

59 mins: GOAL! RUSSIA DOUBLE THEIR LEAD! It's 2-0! Fernandes brilliantly makes room on the right to cut a ball back into the middle, where Cheryshev slots home his third goal in two games. Straight through the legs of the Egyptian keeper and the home crowd goes wild here in St Petersburg.

57 mins: Frustration growing for Egypt, as Hassan picks up a yellow card for a clumsy foul.

56 mins: BLOCKED! That's the moment Salah would have wanted as he picks up the ball in a dangerous area inside the box. However, his effort is put behind for a corner and that delivery whistles across the face of goal without a decisive touch.

55 mins: Egypt are understandably rattled, it's a really cruel way to fall behind in a match and they need vast improvements if they're to turn the tie around. A single point from this game would be enough to help them advance to the next round, but they'll surely need to win their final game to stand any chance of progressing.

53 mins: That goal has blown the roof off the stadium and it means we're still without a goalless draw at the World Cup!

51 mins: There have been five own goals so far at the 2018 World Cup - the only tournament to see more in the competition was 1998 (6).

49 mins: That goal could be curtains for Egypt's World Cup campaign. They can't officially be eliminated from this match but, with this score, victory for Uruguay tomorrow would seal their fate.

47 mins: GOAL! RUSSIA TAKE THE LEAD 1-0! It's a nightmare start to the second half for Egypt. Zobnin fires a poor shot at goal but it took a huge deflected of Fathy, putting it into the bottom right-hand corner.

46 mins: Here we go!

The teams are back out on the pitch and the second half is almost ready to get underway!

The hosts have certainly been the better side but they look short of ideas in the final third, where they are yet to play a decent cross into Dzyuba. Egypt have been similarly frustrated in their own attempts to attacks, as they come face-to-face with a resilient Russian defence.

Russia have dominated proceedings but haven't been able to craft a clear-cut opening in the game and Egypt have struggled to get going in the final third. Cheryshev and Golovin look lively for the hosts, while Egypt need to get Salah on the ball more after the break.

HALF-TIME: RUSSIA 0-0 EGYPT

44 mins: Elneny was one of Egypt's best performers in the defeat to Uruguay on Friday but he's yet to establish himself in the game so far.

42 mins: WIDE! It's taken a while but Salah has just had his first attempt at goal. From just inside the box, he tries to find the left-hand corner of Akinfeev's goal but it's curled wide of the mark.

40 mins: We've gone through all of the matchday one fixtures at the World Cup without a goalless draw. If that run is to be extended here, both sides need to improve in the final third.

39 mins: There's just not enough movement in the final third for Russia to create an opportunity at the moment and Cheryshev has just fired a shot from distance against the referee, leading to an Egypt counter. He'll be the most relieved man in the stadium to see Mohsen foul a defender in the box.

37 mins: Russia's performance has slipped through the last few minutes but they're still trying to find Dzyubawith crosses floated into the box but he's unable to get on the end of them.

35 mins: WIDE! Another sight at goal for Egypt, as Mohsen rises above his marker but is unable to direct a header at goal.

34 mins: CHANCE! Almost the moment for Egypt and Salah, as a cross into the middle from Shafy is flicked on but Zhirkov manages to get a foot to the ball before the Liverpool star can tap home and the resulting corner is wasted.

32 mins: Egypt are yet to get going and Russia have certainly been the better of the two sides. However, we're not seeing too many clear-cut chances.

30 mins: Akinfeev has the best seat in the house at the moment. He's had nothing to do but watch his side dominate the play.

Mohamed Salah Egypt Yuri Zhirkov Russia World Cup

28 mins: Cheryshev is having a whale of the time down the left as he's exploiting the space he's been awarded, with Salah unsurprisingly not tracking back to help Fathy behind him.

26 mins: Russia continue to focus their attacks on the wide areas, but their final ball into the middle has been lacking.

24 mins: It's all going Russia's way so far but El-Shenawy is yet to be tested properly, although the hosts are getting closer and closer.

22 mins: Russia are doing really well to close Salah down as soon as he picks up the ball, preventing the Liverpool star from having time to do anything.

20 mins: Egypt have not scored a goal from open play at a World Cup since 1934.

19 mins: OVER! The ball drops to Cheryshev on the edge of the area and he takes one touch inside before letting a fierce shot loose, which whistles over the top of the bar.

18 mins: Salah looks in the mood but he's struggling to find room to work with, while Egypt remain under siege from the Russian attacks.

16 mins: WIDE! Trezeguet tries to curl an effort into the right-hand corner of Akinfeev's net but it's wide of the mark.

15 mins: Egypt's first corner of the game gives El Said a chance to whip it into the middle and Mohsen rises on the edge of the six-yard box to head at goal, winning another corner. This time it's played short and Russia, eventually, hook the ball away.

13 mins: First we've seen of Salah as he tries to dance his way through the Russian defence but the hosts remain firm at the back.

12 mins: Russia are looking particularly dangerous out wide, which is a concern for Egypt as that's the area where they've struggled defensively.

10 mins: Egypt are struggling to get out of their own half at the moment, leaving their front men very isolated. Russia, having hit five against Saudi Arabia, look in the mood.

8 mins: Another opportunity for Russia to whip the ball into the middle as Golovin wins a free-kick on the left, which Samedov stands over but his delivery is headed behind for a corner off Mohsen - which comes to nothing.

6 mins: A corner for Russia is taken by Samedov and it's played short, before he curls a ball into the middle that Ignashevich heads towards goal but it's an easy save for El-Shenawy.

4 mins: Egypt seeing plenty of the ball in the opening minutes but Salah is yet to find room to work with. A lot of the play has been defensively, with Russia plugging any gaps in their half.

2 mins: Sloppy from Trezeguet as he tries to switch play, conceding possession to Cheryshev. He drives forward but his through ball is just ahead of his team-mate.

1 min: We're underway!

5 MINS TILL KO: The teams are out on the pitch and the anthems are underway, almost time for kick-off!

10mins till KO: It's not all about Salah of course and Russia have some stars who could shine, including young Golovin. He pulled the strings in midfield against Saudi Arabia and capped his performance off with a superb free-kick. A number of European giants are said to be eyeing his services, so it's another chance for him to grab the headlines.

15 mins till KO: Egypt have never won a match at the World Cup, drawing two and losing three. Can Salah provide hope to an entire country tonight?

20 mins till KO: Egypt's only change is one I'm sure you've heard about, Mo Salah is passed fit to make his World Cup debut. Warda is the player who drops to the bench, while Fathy and Hamed retain their spots despite picking up minor knocks.

25 mins till KO: Russia make two changes to the side that thrashed Egypt, handing starts to goalscorers Dzyuba and Cheryshev. Smolov drops to the bench, while Alan Dzagoev will miss the remainder of the tournament through injury.

30 mins till KO: A reminder of the team news tonight.

Russia XI: Igor Akinfeev; Mario Fernandes, Ilya Kutepov, Sergei Ignashevich, Yuri Zhirkov; Yuri Gazinskiy, Roman Zobnin; Aleksandr Samedov, Aleksandr Golovin, Denis Cheryshev; Artem Dzyuba.

Russia subs: Andrey Lunev, Vladimir Gabulov, Fedor Smolov, Aleksey Miranchuk, Igor Smolnikov, Aleksandr Erokhin, Fedor Kudryashov, Daler Kuzyaev, Andrey Semenov, Vladimir Granat, Anton Miranchuk

Egypt XI: Mohamed El-Shenawy; Ahmed Fathy, Ali Gabr, Ahmed Hegazi, Mohamed Shafy; Mohamed Elneny, Tarek Hamed; Mohamed Salah, Abdallah El Said, Trezeguet; Marwan Mohsen.

Egypt subs: Essam El Hadary, Sherif Ekramy, Ramadan Sobhi, Kahraba, Shikabala, Ahmed El Mohamady, Omar Gaber, Ayman Ashraf, Amr Warda, Mahmoud Hamdi, Sam Morsy, Saad Samir.

40 mins till KO: After a thumping victory in the opening game, Russia know another win tonight will all but seal their spot in the knockout stages. However, the hosts can expect a significantly harder test up against an Egypt side looking for redemption after losing their first group match against Uruguay on Friday.

Following the defeat against Uruguay, Egypt know they are in real danger if they lose to Russia today as that could leave the Pharaohs exiting the competition prematurely if results tomorrow go against them. Thankfully, the return of Mohamed Salah will provide a huge boost and he could be the match winner.

45 mins till KO: Hello and welcome to Goal's live blog of the Group A match between Russia and Egypt at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
