Club America midfielder Rubens Sambueza has joined Toluca after failing to help Club America to a Liga MX title in the Apertura.
The Argentine was transfer-listed after joining the capital club in 2012 and making more than 150 appearances for Las Aguilas. The deal reportedly will keep Sambueza at Toluca for three years.

Sambueza earned the captain's armband at America but disappointed in 2016, struggling to recover from a leg injury suffered in the quarterfinals of the playoffs and failing to make an influence at the Club World Cup or in either leg of the final. In the second leg, the left-footer was sent off for two yellow cards as Tigres eventually topped America in a penalty shootout.
The playmaker moves from one club celebrating its 100th anniversary to another, with Toluca also bringing in forward Gabriel Hauche from Club Tijuana and defender Efrain Velarde from Monterrey as it looks to return to the playoffs in its centennial year.
