Real Mallorca vs Barcelona prediction, odds, betting tips and best bets for La Liga on Tuesday image

Barcelona look to remain atop the La Liga table as they travel to Real Mallorca for a road league match in the Spanish top flight on Tuesday.

The Catalan giants are level on points with early surprises Girona at the summit of the standings, ahead just barely on goal differential (they haven't yet played each other so head-to-head can't yet be used as a tiebreaker). Real Madrid loom just a single point back, so Barca must collect the maximum if they are to ensure they remain clear.

Mallorca are on the opposite end of the table, sitting 16th with five points through the first six matches of the season. They are just a single point above the drop zone, and while it's too early to be looking below in the table, early warning signs are evident.

Robert Lewandowski is also himself at the top of an individual chart, level with Jude Bellingham and Alvaro Morata at the head of the league goalscoring list. Both have five goals each, but Lewandowski's three assists have him clear on the tiebreaker.

Real Mallorca vs Barcelona prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Barcelona (-190)
  • Score prediction: Real Mallorca 0-2 Barcelona

Barcelona hold an 11-match winning streak against Mallorca, which dates back to a 1-1 draw in October of 2010. You have to go back three more games to 2009 for the last Mallorca win, one of just two victories for the tiny island club over Barca over the past 20 years.

    • Pick: Barcelona to win to nil
    • Odds: +145 (BetMGM)

Interestingly, the game flow in recent meetings between these clubs is quite split between each team's venue. When Mallorca visit the Camp Nou, they seem to find additional inspiration, but at home, they've been shut out in six of the past seven matches. Last time they matched up, Mallorca managed just three total shots worth 0.09 expected goals.

Mallorca have just one consistent goal threat in Vedat Muriqi, who has scored in each of his previous two matches, but he has come up empty in two career games against Barcelona, managing just one shot on target throughout those two contests. Cyle Larin has been bright off the bench, but has yet to score; Abdon Prats has scored three goals in just 74 minutes of action, but that's far too small a sample size to trust.

Real Mallorca vs Barcelona prop bet

    • Pick: Barcelona to win both halves
    • Odds: +275 (BetMGM)

Considering the expectation that Mallorca will struggle to score, we can back Barcelona to come good before and after the break. Before halftime, Barcelona have been a bit shakier this season, but they have scored three of their past four goals against Mallorca in the first half, so there's precedent.

After halftime, however, Barcelona have been nearly unbeatable this young season, bagging a league-leading 11 second-half goals on 8.31 xG, while conceding just 1.94 xGA at the other end. They should come away with a good haul from both ends of the match.
