Premier League title 2023/24

It's Manchester City above everyone else, as Pep Guardiola's dynasty continues to add conquests.

Half of the 10 Sporting News staffers had Man City topping the table, another four projected them finishing in second place, and one saw them dropping to third in the table.

By comparison, half of the 10 staffers project that Arsenal will not even finish in the top two spots, though three others have them winning the title.

Here's how the first-place picks netted out in our staffers' tables: Man City (5), Arsenal (3), Man United (1), Chelsea (1).

Champions League spots, European places 2023/24

The Sporting News' staff saw many of the same candidates from 2022/23 vying for European places again this season.

But in addition to Liverpool and Newcastle fighting for top-4 spots, there is a reborn Chelsea side that is also expected to be in the mix after their disappointing 12th-placed finish last campaign.

Of course, given the new Champions League format coming up, there is a scenario that fifth place will also reach the lucrative tournament, if English clubs succeed in registering one of the top two best performances across the 2023/24 UEFA tournaments.

Sixth-place, seventh-place, and now even eighth place in the Premier League could also be in play for European berths. That's because if the FA Cup winner or Carabao Cup winner also happen to finish in the Premier League's top four (or five), the European cup berth that comes with either domestic trophy would be transferred to the next team in the standings not already qualified for Europe.

Here are some surprise teams that received votes from our panel to finish in the Top 10: Crystal Palace (3 votes), Burnley (1), Fulham (1), Nottingham Forest (1), and Wolves (1).

Premier League European places in 2023/24:

  • Champions League berths (4 or 5): Top 4 or Top 5 places
  • Europa League berths (2): 5th or 6th place + FA Cup winner
  • Conference League qualifying berth (1): Carabao Cup winner
