Cristiano Ronaldo will play in his 11th major international tournament after he was named in Portugal's squad for Euro 2024.

The 39-year-old Al-Nassr forward is the most-capped and most-prolific player in international football history with 206 appearances and 128 goals for Portugal.

Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez included Ronaldo among seven forwards in his 26-man squad for the tournament in Germany.

Ronaldo made his international tournament debut at Euro 2004, where Portugal finished as runners-up to surprise package Greece on home soil. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner then led Portugal to victory at Euro 2016 and in the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League.

The rest of the squad features nine Premier League players, including three from Wolverhampton Wanderers: Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo, and Pedro Neto.

Manchester United's captain Bruno Fernandes and right-back Diogo Dalot join Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Joao Palhinha, and Diogo Jota as the other English top-flight players to be involved.

Legendary defender Pepe will be at the tournament despite turning 41 years of age in February. His 21-year-old Porto teammate Francisco Conceicao also makes the squad.

How many players are in Euro 2024 squads?

On May 3, 2024, UEFA's executive committee confirmed national teams would be able to name 26 players in their Euro 2024 squads.

This was the number allowed due to the impact of COVID-19 upon Euro 2020, while the FIFA World Cup taking place in the middle of the 2022/23 European season meant larger squads were also permitted.

UEFA intended to revert to a 23-man limit for Euro 2024 but the national competitions committee voting in favour of 26-man squads forced a rethink.

Can Portugal replace players on Euro 2024 roster?

Teams must confirm their preliminary squads by May 21 and submit final squad lists to UEFA by June 7.

Replacements can be made on the grounds of illness or injury up until June 13, the day before the tournament starts.

Once Euro 2024 begins, teams must find solutions from within their 26-man squads.
