The Portland Timbers have acquired goalkeeper Jeff Attinella from Minnesota United in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.

Minnesota selected Attinella from Real Salt Lake in last week's expansion draft, and the 28-year-old is now on the move again.

U.S. star Alex Morgan headed to France to play for powerful Lyon

“We’re very pleased to add Jeff as a proven ’keeper in MLS,” Timbers coach Caleb Porter said in a club release. “He will provide quality and experience, and we feel good about our depth in that position.”

Attinella served as Nick Rimando's backup in Salt Lake over the past four seasons. With Real Salt Lake, Attinella made 29 appearances (28 starts), recording five shutouts and 107 saves.

The former Tampa Bay Rowdies goalkeeper figures to serve as Jake Gleeson's backup in Portland.
