Peter Odemwingie ended his six-game barren spell as Madura United thumped Persiba Balikpapan 4-3 at the Batakan Stadium.
The Nigerian, whose last goal came on July 17 against Persiba Balikpapan has been struggling in front of goal since recovering from a leg injury.
Against the hosts, the 36-year-old rediscovered his scoring form as his 78th-minute effort handed Mário Gomes de Olivera a life line before two-goal hero Gregory Nwokolo sealed the hard-earn triumph despite playing a man less.
Odemwingie’s strike was his 14th of the Indonesian topflight – 19 short of Bali United’s Sylvano Comvalius who lead the topscorer’s chart.
With this, Madura United now boast of 57 points from 31 games to place fifth on the log. They host Barito Putera on November 5 as they continue their chase for the league diadem as well as a AFC Champions League qualification slot.
