Mohamed Diame is eyeing victory when Newcastle United play host to Manchester United in Sunday’s English Premier League encounter.

The Magpies are winless in their last eight top-flight games at the St James' Park which leaves them just two places above the relegation zone.

Diame, unhappy with their poor run of form at home, is hoping they can secure the maximum points against Jose Mourinho's side.

“We are dropping points at home and it is causing a lot of frustration,” Diame told Chronicle Live.

“You can talk about a lot of things but it has happened again and again and it needs to stop because when we are playing at home it should be a fortress.

“When we are playing at home we need to get the points we need.”

Diame's opener in Newcastle's 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace was his second in 21 appearances across all competitions this season. The former Wigan Athletic midfielder will be looking forward to another positive outing when they meet the Red Devils in their next encounter.
