Mohamed Salah has been named Liverpool’s Player of the Month for March, making it the sixth time the forward gets the monthly individual accolade.

Salah continued in his imperious form in that period, scoring six goals - including a haul of four against Watford - in five games.

The feat earned him most of the fans' votes to beat Andy Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain respectively to the prize.

Since his arrival from AS Roma in the summer, only Dejan Lovren [October] and strike partner Roberto Firmino [January] have halted the streak of the pacy forward who won the gong in August, September, November, December, February and now, March.

"Thank you. I’m very happy to win it again, but as I said many times the most important thing is to win the games and to get the points. I always try to score to help the team to get the points,” Salah told club website.

Asked about his favourite of the six strikes in that period, the 25-year-old said: "I don’t know, all of them are very important for me but if I [had to] choose one, it would probably be Crystal Palace because [it was] after 85 or 86 minutes, and also the hat-trick, the third one against Watford. That was a good feeling."

Salah has now scored 39 goals across all competitions, with 29 putting him atop the English Premier League goalscorers’ chart.

A goal against Bournemouth in Saturday’s encounter will see him set a new record as the highest goal-scoring African in an English top-flight campaign, after equalling Didier Drogba’s feat of 29 strikes in Chelsea's 2009-10 EPL winning season
