Club America’s Raul Jimenez was the main absentee in Miguel Herrera’s 21-man Mexico squad to face Korea Republic on Jan. 29 in San Antonio, while his former teammate Diego Reyes returns to the international fold.

Pachuca’s Rodolfo Pizarro, Leon’s Jose Juan Vazquez and Tigres striker Alan Pulido were all called up for the first time, while Enrique Perez and Miguel Ponce are both back with the national team after a long absence.

America goalkeeper Moises Munoz also missed out, with Toluca’s Alfredo Talavera and Cruz Azul’s Jesus Corona getting the nod.

There are a total of five America players and four from Leon.

With the friendly not falling on a FIFA date, Mexico’s Europe-based contingent were not eligible to be called up, with the federation having to get special permission for Reyes, who hasn’t been featuring in Porto’s first team.

The players will meet up on Sunday, Jan. 26 in Mexico City.
