Melaka United FC head coach, Eric Williams is determined to build and improve his squad, after they drew 1-1 with Selangor in their Super League match at the Selayang Municipal Stadium.
In the match, Melaka midfielder Khairu Azrin opened the scoring but the Red Giants' new signing, Victor Astafei managed to equalise and secure a point for the home team.
According to Williams, he is satisfied with his attacking lines, and believes his team surprised Selangor with their performance.
“I think we surprised Selangor today and I think they will be dissapointed. Our attacking lines combined well today. In fact the goalscorer was one of our midfielders.”
“We are still a work in progress and we can build on from what we did today,” said Williams.
The game against Selangor was Melaka’s first game of the season and Williams and the fans finally got to see their attacking trio, Ilija Spasoveic, Amri Yahyah and Sergio Aguero playing together for the first time.
Williams believed that the three players can do better and he is determined to improve their combination before the upcoming game.
“I know they can do better. We are hoping to improve that through the week.”
“Our next game will be another away game. It will be very difficult so we need everyone to recover first,” added Willimas.
Melaka United’s first game again Kelantan was cancelled last week due to torrential rain, and they will now travel to Ipoh to face Perak in their next game.
