Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has sought to distance himself from rumours suggesting a summer transfer could be on the cards.

The Slovenia international has seen his future at the San Siro called into question on a regular basis over recent months.

Premier League eyes are said to be monitoring his situation in Italy, with Manchester City and Liverpool both reported to be keen on securing his signature.

Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp are being heavily linked with shot-stopping reinforcements having endured struggles in that department at the Etihad Stadium and Anfield this season.

Handanovic is said to be an experienced option that both managers would consider, but the 32-year-old insists he will be staying put regardless of whether Inter secure a return to Champions League competition or not.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Have I ever regretted coming to Inter? Never! A call from Inter is the dream of every player.

“At Udinese I saw this marvellous side win Scudetto titles and the Champions League. Inter are still now one of the five or six most prestigious clubs in the world and now we feel like we’re at the start of something important again.

“I would remain at Inter even without Champions League football. Besides, there’s no guarantee we won’t go straight in next season.”

Inter currently sit fourth in the Serie A standings, six points adrift of Napoli in the final Champions League spot.

City and Liverpool, meanwhile, are both pushing hard for top-four finishes in the Premier League and a seat at European football’s top table.
