Juventus have a chance to kill two birds with one stone as they hope to overtake Inter atop the Serie A table while compounding Napoli's recent misery amidst a Friday showcase in the Italian top flight.

Napoli have fallen hard after their memorable title run last season, sitting fifth in the league table through 14 matches and with just one win in three matches under new manager Walter Mazzerri. The defending champions have been especially putrid at home, thrashed by Inter last time out in a humbling 3-0 defeat.

Meanwhile, Juve have taken advantage of their season without European football by proving resurgent in league play, sitting second in the table, two points back of leaders Inter who play on Saturday at home against Udinese. Should Juventus win here, they would at least temporarily take over the top spot and put the pressure on their title rivals.

American midfielder Weston McKennie has been central to Juventus's rise back up from last year's struggles, completing 90 minutes in each of their last seven league games. Across that span, Juve have conceded just three goals, marking a difficult task for Napoli to right the ship here.

Juventus vs Napoli prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Juventus (+130)
  • Score prediction: Juventus 2-1 Napoli

Napoli have been utterly putrid this season at home, but for some reason look much better on the road. They fought hard against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu before fatigue set in and they conceded two late goals, and they topped Atalanta in their latest league road match.

Juventus are in exceptional form of late, without defeat since their late-September loss to Sassuolo, but they haven't blown anyone out, with only one multi-goal margin of victory in that span across their seven wins.

Juventus vs Napoli: best bet

  • Pick: Over 2.5 total goals
  • Odds: +105 (DraftKings)

While Juventus have proven defensively stout this season, it's been extremely difficult to hold Napoli off the scoresheet, especially while they are away from home. Inter managed to keep a lid on the Napoli attack last time out at the Maradona, but keeping them out two matches in a row will be a mountainous task.

Napoli, meanwhile, have been leaky at the back wherever they go this season, in contrast to last year's title campaign where they were nearly impenetrable. Without departed defender Min-Jae Kim, who was sold to Bayern Munich in the summer, they lack the same cohesion and have been forced to contest shootouts.

Napoli have not kept a clean sheet since blanking Salernitana back in early November, a run of five games, and have just two clean sheets since the start of October across all competitions. While there's no value on both teams to score at -130, the plus odds on the over are enticing.

Juventus vs Napoli prop bet

  • Pick: Filip Kostic to assist a goal
  • Odds: +360 (FanDuel)

Juventus's most creative player has a very good matchup here, as he plays on the left against Napoli's bombing full-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo, instead of their more defensive-minded options in Natan or Juan Jesus on the opposite flank.

Kostic has been especially good at home of late, collecting over 1.0 xA in three of his last four games in Turin. With support from the three-man back line behind him, Kostic should be able to get forward plenty and help in the attack against a recently vulnerable Napoli defensive unit.
