Former Torino goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani has compared Douglas Costa’s feats in Juventus shirt to that of Mohamed Salah for Liverpool.
The on-loan Bayern Munich player has been in great form for the Old Lady in their run-in and continued in such vein after coming on against Bologna to help them to a 3-1 comeback victory on Saturday.
Maxi Allegri’s side had gone down to a Simeone Verdi’s 30th-minute opener but levelled after Sebastian De Maio put the ball into his own net.
And the Brazil wing wizard, on before the restart, created two goals - within the space of six minutes - for Sami Khedira and Paulo Dybala to gift the hosts the win, thus, putting them on the brink of another Scudetto triumph.
And Marchegiani has hailed the player as Juventus’ difference maker just like his counterpart has been doing all season at Anfield.
“I realized that bringing Douglas Costa on is even more crucial,” Marchegiani was quoted as saying by Calciomercato.
“He can enter the game and make a difference when others aren't as fresh.
“He is a footballer that makes a difference, he has great pace. He reminds me a bit of Salah.”
However, in stark contrast to Salah's feat of 31 goals in the English Premier League, Costa has only scored four goals 29 Serie A appearances this season. But the 27-year old has been more of a menace with his deliveries, providing 12 assists to his teammates.
