Estudiantes president Juan Sebastian Veron could be playing next year's Copa Libertadores at the ripe old age of 42.
The former Lazio, Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder hung up his boots in May 2014 after helping Estudiantes to a Libertadores title upon his return from European football.

But after being elected president of the La Plata club the same year Veron pledged to return to the field should they sell 65 percent of the boxes available in their new stadium, which is expected to be completed in 2017.
In a show of confidence that the target will be reached, 'the Witch' has already resumed training in a bid to get ready for next year's competition, which will kick off shortly before his 42nd birthday.
"I see him playing behind the forward in our 4-2-3-1, dropping back to the midfield line and lending his experience," Estudiantes coach Nelson Vivas told reporters as he confirmed Veron's comeback. "And due to his personality he will always give a lot more than what we ask of him."
Estudiantes clinched a place in the 2017 Libertadores by finishing second behind Lanus in the 2016 Transitional Tournament and currently lead the Primera Division under Vivas.
