U.S. national team stalwart Jermaine Jones posted a video on his Instagram account saying he's set for surgery on Tuesday and will be sidelined for a few weeks.
"Yeah, tomorrow’s my surgery, so I'll be out for a couple weeks but then get back sharp," Jones said on the social media site. "Thanks again for yesterday. It was amazing. Big support in LA."
New England later confirmed the news:
NE Revs spokesperson confirms Jermaine Jones will undergo sports hernia surgery Tues, and his return timetable will be set after #MLS #USMNT

Jones, 33, made the announcement a day after playing the full 90 minutes in the United States' 2-0 friendly win over Panama. Depending on his recovery, his availability could be in question for the New England Revolution's MLS opener against Seattle on March 8.
Jones had two goals and two assists in helping the Revolution to the MLS Cup last season, and scored the opening goal for the U.S. against Portugal in last summer's World Cup in Brazil.
