Albert Adomah took his Championship goal record to 11 for the season as he netted in Aston Villa's 2-2 home stalemate with Sheffield United on Saturday.

In unarguably his best season at club level, the Ghanaian took little time to announce his presence at Villa Park after drawing blank in the preceding three matches.

The Claret and Blue, however, failed to make the most of the day as they watched a two-goal lead slip.

Adomah opened the scoring from the spot as early as the fourth minute after Keinan Davies went down under the challenge of Richard Stearman.

Five minutes later, Mile Jedinak made it 2-0 after heading home Robert Snodgrass' corner.

For a brief moment, it looked as though Villa were headed for a rout until Sheffield hit back through Clayton Donaldson in the 12th minute.

The former Birmingham City man chipped over goalkeeper Sam Johnstone after Jedinak failed to cut out John Lundstram ball over the top.

Jedinak was again in the thick of affairs as Sheffield leveled the score in the 26th minute.

Once again, the Australia international failed to deal with another long ball, allowing Donaldson to slot home the equaliser.

Despite giving away two points, Villa still hold down a place in the playoff zone as they currently sit sixth on the log.

Sheffield occupy the seventh position.

Adomah has made 19 Championship outings involving 16 starts and 11 goals for Villa so far this season.

He is expected to maintain his starting berth when the Claret and Blue play away to Brentford on Tuesday.
