Zlatan Ibrahimovic is “one of the best strikers in history” and has those at the LA Galaxy daring to dream of a MLS move, says Giovani dos Santos.
The enigmatic frontman is being heavily linked with a switch to America as a short-term contract at Manchester United runs down.
A return to the Red Devils’ ranks was made in November, but the 36-year-old is still struggling with knee issues following surgery on ligament damage and has been unable to replicate his form from 2016-17.
Jose Mourinho has revealed that he will not stand in the Swede’s way if he wishes to leave Old Trafford, and those in Los Angeles are hoping that a mooted deal for a modern day icon can be pushed through.
Galaxy striker Dos Santos could be paired with Ibrahimovic if a move is made, and he told reporters on that prospect following an outing for Mexico against Bosnia & Herzegovina: "I don't know if it is going to happen but he's a legend, one of the best strikers in history of soccer.
"So if he comes he is very welcome and for sure everyone would be very happy to have him in the team.
"It would be like a dream come true
"I've been able to play with some of the best strikers in the world.
"I played with Robbie Keane, so to bring a total player like Zlatan would be huge for our attack."
Ibrahimovic netted 28 times in all competitions for United last season, as he played a leading role in Community Shield, EFL Cup and Europa League successes.
He was, however, to see his campaign cut short in April 2017 and has faced a long road to recovery.
Just one goal has been recorded in seven outings this term, with Mourinho now relying heavily on £75 million frontman Romelu Lukaku and January signing Alexis Sanchez to lead the line.
That could free Ibrahimovic to take on a new challenge and link up with the Galaxy ahead of the 2018 MLS season.
