Ibrahim Alhassan has joined Portuguese Primera Division side Maritimo in a three-year deal.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Austrian Wien from Nigerian Professional Football League club Akwa United.

During his temporary stay with the Violet, he helped the side to maintain their top-flight status, making 26 appearances across all competitions and scoring twice.

The Green-and-Reds' new recruit in his reaction said: “I have a huge will to play and my football will speak for me.”

Alhassan will team up with Mozambique’s defender Zainadine Junior and Cameroon’s forward Diederick Joel at the Estadio do Maritimo outfit.

The midfielder could make his debut when Claudio Braga’s men trade tackles with Hull City in a pre-season friendly game on July 10.

Maritimo ended last term in the seventh spot and will be aiming to compete for the title when the 2018-19 season kicks off.
