Steve Mounie has praised Huddersfield Town for their show of character after securing a 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion in Saturday’s English Premier League tie.

The Benin international levelled proceedings for David Wagner’s men after Jonas Loessl had earlier turned the ball into his own net.

“It’s a good point, earlier in the season when we went a goal down we didn’t get so many points from those games, so it’s a very good point - especially away,” Mounie told club website.

“There were chances to win the game, but there were also chances to lose this game. We will take this point and keep going, there are five games to go so we will try and take more points.

“We showed good character and showed that we fight until the end. If it was earlier in the season we would lose this game. Today we took a point and we’ll keep fighting because without fighting we won’t stay in this League."

The Terriers are 16th spot in the log with 32 points from 33 games, though they are only four points above the relegation zone.

Mounie has scored nine goals in all competitions and the former Montpellier marksman will be looking to increase his tally when Huddersfield lock horns with Watford in their next league encounter on April 14.
