The UEFA Champions League final will be memorable no matter the end result with Manchester City and Inter Milan meeting for the first time in a competitive match for the title of European champion.

English Premier League winners Man City are looking to cap a historic treble of trophies to go with their Premier League and FA Cup titles this season. They are the biggest pre-game favourites in the last 19 Champions League finals.

On the other side are Italian side Inter Milan, who took full advantage of a favorable draw in the knockout rounds to unexpectedly reach the final. Inter had an inconsistent season in Italy, but they've found their form of late, going 11W-1L-1D in their last 13 to finish in third place in the Italian league. They also won the Coppa Italia (Italian Cup).

Man City are desperate to win the first UEFA Champions League title in club history, while Inter Milan are aiming for their fourth all-time trophy and first since 2010.

Champions League schedule 2022-2023

The 2022-2023 Champions League season featured a 32-team group stage with every team playing six matches. All six rounds of the group stage were completed by November 2, just before the break for the 2022 World Cup.

The top two teams from each Champions League group advanced to the knockout rounds, beginning with the Round of 16. The teams that finished in first place were drawn against teams that finished in second place in a draw that took place on Nov. 7.

The knockouts were played based on a two-leg, aggregate-goal format with any matchups level on total goals after the second leg going to extra time and, if necessary, penalty kicks. Away goals did not serve as a tiebreaker.

The teams left standing will be dreaming of advancing all the way to the final which will be held at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey on June 10, 2023.
